Catching Up

(Some of this post was written about two weeks ago but never got posted because I forgot I'd saved it as a draft)
Thanks to Dave's brother we were able to get the central heating fixed for about $10 instead of the $150 (at least) that it would have cost to have a technician come out and look at it. One of the relays was broken or so he tells me, I'm all thumbs when it comes to stuff like this.
The 6th was Tudor Rose Sampler Guild night. Going to guild encouraged me to pick up my cross stitch again. I haven't touched it in ages, I've been too busy doing other things I guess. I'm working on the first Chatelaine Mystery Sampler, I've had the kit in my stash for a couple of years I guess. I started working on it last year but it got set aside and not picked up again until recently. Not too much to show, so far I've got part of the outer border done.
I did finish a small project, which I stitched for Kim. I found the chart in Hobby Lobby in the clearance aisle. When I worked at the zoo, I had a disagreement with one of my co-workers and Kim agreed with me. The co-worker who was miffed with me said that Kim was a Sarra supporter. When Kim later related the story to me she said it was "like I'm your bra or something". Hence the complete appropriateness of this chart. I just have to give it a good ironing and take it in to be framed.
These are the baby garments I knitted for my new niece. The babies were born prematurely, and one of the twins didn't make it. It was something that the doctors and parents were aware of and there wasn't anything they could do without potentially harming the healthy baby. I'm very sad for them, but it could have been way, way worse.
The sweater on the left is from a free pattern available on PT Yarn's website. They are the Opal distributor for the US, so the yarn is written for Opal but any fingering weight yarn could be substituted. I forget what I used, it was something I picked up while we were in New Orleans for JC and Kim's wedding. I made socks out of the leftovers, and had enough leftover Opal Brasil from a pair I made for me to make another set.
The sweater on the right, where only the sleeve is visible is from some stash yarn that I'd bought from Elann several years ago. Unfortunately none of the photos I took of that set came out. Maybe I can get R to take some pictures of the baby wearing the set that I can post to the blog.
And finally, my cats are all (except for Zedd who is probably on the bed under the covers) trying to get some sun. Because even though we have several windows on that side of the house, this is the only one worthy.
