We're home. Las Vegas was fun, but I'm very happy to be home. I think I have a limit on the amount of time I enjoy spending away, before I just miss the house and animals too much. I'm not much of a gambler, on the first night we played nickel slots and I won $250 on a machine called Code Red. We played a few more times, but never managed to equal that win. At least I came out on top! Dave thought about trying some of the table games, but just never did, inertia I guess.

On the big day (10/22) Kim and I made appointments for hair, makeup and nails at the hotel salon. We were staying at Circus, Circus so I was a little surprised that their salon was so pretentious. Called Aimee of Paris it offered a full range of services for enormous prices. A manicure was $25, I'm used to it being around $9 at home (not including tip). Oh, well it was for the wedding, so I sucked it up. $176 (not including tip) later, my hair was hairsprayed and rolled and pinned within an inch of its life, my nails were polished and my makeup was caked on. I hardly ever wear makeup, so when a woman followed me out of the salon to say she thought I wasn't wearing enough, and if I wanted to come up to her room in a half hour to be "fixed up" I politely declined.

Here's a photo of the do:

Our wedding was at Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapels. We have it internet archived, so if you'd like to see the ceremony, it's on this page, middle column almost all the way down, under D. Borne. They also have the official wedding photos, you can look at the online album here.

Dave's mom also took a few photos, once she figured out my camera:

This is the gazebo, with Kim and Steve, waiting for us to arrive

And this is one of us, I had to lighten it up a little, so the color isn't that great

And here's a really blurry one of the inside of the limo. I was completely fascinated by the lighted ceiling

Tonight we're taking the dogs to Greyfest 2005, to hang out with their buddies. It will be so weird to introduce Dave as my husband, instead of boyfriend or fiance.

One more picture, on a crafty note. As promised, Marquoir Story is finished:

Ugh. I just spent the last couple of days in and out of the emergency room and the dentist's office. On Saturday I had a tiny amount of pain, and my bridge felt a teensy bit loose. I thought, I'll have to go into the dentist on Monday and get that checked out.

On Sunday I woke up, with excruciating pain emanating from the entire right side of my mouth, and my face was swollen. I called in sick (not sure they understood anything I said because I was crying), and Dave took me to the emergency room. I tried to call my dentist, but I kept getting a weird "The party isn't answering, so we're hanging up now message", not the usual what to do in case of an emergency message. I also tried calling a local dentist, and asking for a emergency call back, but to no avail. The hospital doesn't have dentists on staff, so all they can do is give me antibiotics and pain-killers. Oh, blessed Vicodin, for taking away the pain. It also makes me so sleepy I can't function, but that's a good thing when you have a fever and a face that resembles a Shar pei.

Monday morning my friend Kim bravely takes me to the dentist. Little does she know it will be an all day ordeal. My dentist takes an x-ray, presses on my face, and says "You have to go see an endodontist, here's a referral." I call, explain that I have a mumble cyst (I can't read his handwriting) and I really need to be seen. They can fit me in at 1:30PM. It's around 10AM. So we go to the mall, Kim spends money shopping, and blames me. I watch her eat lunch, and nibble on a fruit cup. We head over to Half Price Books and shop until 1:00. Kim buys more stuff, and blames me some more.

We head over to the endodontist, they take some more x-rays, tell me about the procedure. I'm like, just do whatever, I'll put a second mortgage on the house if I have to, just make it stop hurting. He asks me what happened, I tell my story, then I start crying and mention, and I'm getting married on Saturday. He says "This Saturday?!?" "Uh, huh this Saturday". So he reassures me, that I'll be beautiful for Saturday, and starts sticking rusty spikes into my face. Well, not really, but that novicaine needle sure did hurt like hell. I got a little more nervous, when he said "Suction, please", and then "we need to get this tooth opened as quickly as possible". Then he had to give me a second dose of novicaine, I have this incredibly high tolerance for local anesthetics, so I need more and it doesn't last as long as normal people, before he could start the root canal.

After he was all done, he tells me "We removed quite a bit of material, (for material, read pus), and there was some trauma, so there may be a little more swelling this evening, but it should go away by Wednesday. Call me if it doesn't and I'll send you to the emergency room for intravenous antibiotics. Here's a prescription for some big-gun oral antibiotics, and more pain killers." Kim has told everyone on staff that I'm getting married on Saturday, so they're all consoling me that I'm going to be beautiful, while I pay my bill.

Today, my face is markedly less swollen, and almost painfree. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Dave took a picture of my chipmunk cheek, which didn't come out that great, but don't I look lovely:

Hopefully I'll be able to replace that fright fest with some cheery wedding pics next week.

Went to see Bug at Kitchen Dog Theater tonight. Haven't been out for a "nice" evening in quite a while, so it was a nice change. There was totally gratituous, but very interesting male (and female) nudity in the first act. The male lead reminded me of a young Jeff Goldblum, who I used to have a big crush on, and the female lead, wait was there a female lead, I don't really remember, did I mention there was male nudity?

I also finished Marquoir Story today, pictures yet to come, and started on this years Sampler Guild ornament. Next month's program is the finishing for the ornament, and since I really suck at finishing I'd like to be able to keep up.

Wedding is in two weeks, I'm a big bundle of nerves. It doesn't help that the maid of honor ordered a dress that she absolutely insisted she had to wear at the wedding, and it hasn't arrived yet, and she can't get in touch with the seamstress. I don't really give a rat's ass what she wears, and I just don't need the added stress, just pick something else as a backup. The wedding is way casual, so it really doesn't matter. For all I know, the best man (Dave's brother) may show up in a tie-dye tee-shirt, flip-flops and faded jean shorts.

Look! Actual crafty content! Finally found the camera wedged under my desk. Damned cats. Without further ado, as I mentioned a few posts ago, I finished Mystery 6:

I wanted to take it to be framed, but my framer had a family emergency so she wasn't at her shop last weekend. Now it will probably have to wait until after the wedding.

I've also just about completed Marquoir Story, so I should have a photo of that in the next week. I haven't been knitting, I started a color block type afghan done with short rows, messed up the count and really need to fix it but just haven't had the energy.
