High Speed, Fact or Fiction?
Keeping my fingers crossed, there's a chance that we may be able to have high speed internet sometime in the next couple of weeks, for real this time. Aircanopy.net has finished installing an antenna (or whatever it's called) on the town water tower. If our house lies in the service area, we're good to go. Unfortunately, so many people want to sign up, we have to wait almost a week for them to come out and check.

If this works out, I'll be able to post to my blog on a more frequent basis again. Currently, I can't really access at work, none of the computers are very private, and it's hard to get enough time to actually sit down to do work, let alone fool around.

Baby Birds
The other week, we were outside barbecueing, and Dave asked me to check out what was with the cheeping noises in the bushes. So we looked, and there were two little baby birds. I reached in and touched one, and it made this god-awful noise, and suddenly I was being divebombed by irate cardinal parents. At least we figured out that the babies weren't abandoned! Dave tried to get some pictures, but you can't see anything except foliage. They've moved on now, I can't wait for the next crop of babies.

Speaking of babies, we've made a deal with the neighbors behind us, they can put a horse in our pasture since we're not currently using it, so long as they fix up the fence and maintain the pasture. I came home today and found that we have our new tenant enjoying her new yard. She's gorgeous! I have to get some photos of her when she stops running around and exploring. Oh, yeah babies. She's about three months with foal, so we'll have a baby horsie on the ground before we know it.

Elmo and the Broccoli
We had a pot-luck dinner for the Fourth, and somebody brought a vegetable tray. We turned around to find Elmo on the table stalking the wily broccoli. He even nibbled on it a little before deciding "that's not food, that's what food eats!"

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes about the dogs. I would have posted my thanks earlier, but I've been having problems connecting to Blogger. Abe had a little limp, nothing serious, probably just a stone bruise from our gravel driveway. Assuming he must have run down the driveway in order to deposit his collar in the street. Otherwise I'm completely stumped as to what happened.

It's been raining all afternoon here, and I was worried about the dogs being outside. They have a doggie door with access to the sunroom, and a cozy barn, but they don't like being inside during the day, so I was worried that I'd have two mud dogs to deal with when I got home.

My boss let me go home an hour early. When I got home, I was checking the mail and muttering about it being soaking wet. (Including my two free books from RDI, but that's another topic).

I looked over at the road in front of me, and there is a bright red dog collar in the street. I think, OMG, that looks like Abe's collar. So I hop out of the car, and it is Abe's collar, with all his tags. IN THE ROAD, IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE! Not in the backyard, on the dog where it belongs.

When I pull into my driveway, I see no dogs, and the gate next to the garage is standing open. I can barely park and turn the car off.

Hanna comes and meets me at the gate, I must have woken her up, but still no Abe. Hanna is Dave's dog, and while I love her, Abe is my baby. So, I'm calling his name, and calling, and calling. And who do I see hop off the back porch to come greet me - oh, thank God, it's Abe.

He's safe and unharmed. Both of them are. The back gate won't stay closed, so Dave will have to fix it when he gets home. I can't imagine what happened, obviously Abe must have been in the road at some point.

I'm still shaking.
